For the past two years, I’ve had the privilege of serving as your Treasurer, working closely with our CFO, Robin Morris, to navigate the financial ins and outs of this association. That role has given me a clear view of our strengths and struggles. I know where we’re strong, and where we need to be more strategic.
Fiscal responsibility isn’t just about numbers, it’s about trust, and I take that trust seriously. As your next First Vice President, I will continue to champion:
Our resources are limited—but our potential isn’t. With smart, responsible financial leadership, and a focus on Professional Development, Advocacy, and Member Engagement we can build a stronger, more resilient VCCAR that supports EVERY member.
Professional Development involves the continuous pursuit of skills, knowledge, and growth that empower you to advance your careers and perform at your best. I understand that staying sharp and competitive in today’s fast-paced real estate market is a necessity. We need to make sure VCCAR offers a more robust continuing educational program, creates collaboration opportunities, and proudly invests in industry events like the Realtor Summit. Where all our members can level up their expertise, build meaningful connections, and gain fresh insights.
As your next First Vice President, I will continue to be a strong advocate for expanding and enriching our professional development programs.
One of the most important responsibilities we share as real estate professionals is not just serving our clients, it’s protecting the very foundation of homeownership, property rights, and our industry’s future. That’s where advocacy comes in.
Advocacy at its core is about publicly supporting a cause or policy, and for us, that cause is crystal clear: defending the rights of homeowners, promoting responsible legislation, and ensuring that our voices are heard at every level of government.
As your VP, I will continue to champion efforts that do three vital things:
Provide accurate, timely information to legislators—so the people making decisions about our industry understand the real-
world impact of those choices.
2. Educate and introduce our community—our clients, neighbors, and fellow REALTORS®—to the legislative issues that affect
them, often without them even realizing it. When we raise awareness, we empower others to care and take action.
3. Mobilize for our cause. Advocacy isn’t passive—it’s active. It means showing up. Whether it’s responding to a Call for Action,
contributing to the REALTOR® Action Fund, or having conversations that matter—we get results when we work together.
This is more than politics—it’s protection, it’s preservation. It’s about ensuring that the future of real estate is shaped by those
who live and work in it every day—you.
I’ve seen firsthand how vital strong member engagement is to the health and future of our association. When members are active, involved, and connected, we don’t just maintain status quo, we grow. We become a more dynamic, financially sound organization that is well-positioned for expansion and continued success.
There’s a common misconception out there that volunteerism and member energy are on the decline. I disagree. The desire to contribute and connect is very much alive, it just looks different today. We now have a sea of choices, with neighboring associations, niche communities and countless learning platforms. So, if we want real estate professionals to choose us, and members to stay, we need to redefine what engagement looks like—and make it meaningful.
But here’s the challenge: Many associations struggle because they lack a shared definition of engagement. If we don’t agree on what it means, how can we measure it—or improve it?
